Hi!
Thank you very much for your interest in our Sensitive Practice skills training program! The goals of SPT are:
1 - To teach cancer care providers (and students training to become cancer care providers) to work sensitively with sexual violence survivors
2 - To research the effectiveness of the training program
We will study the effectiveness of SPT by asking all trainees to complete surveys, quizzes and interactive learning activities.
You are eligible to apply if you are:
1) licensed, license-eligible, certified in a healthcare profession or if you are currently in an accredited training program in a healthcare profession
2) have access to a laptop, tablet, or smartphone to take the online portion of the course
3) currently or plan to (e.g., upon graduation) deliver care to individuals with cancer
4) are interested in the course and are willing to use the sensitive practice skills you learn into your clinical practice
5) are proficient in English
6) are at least 18 years of age
The cost of developing and running the training program is covered by the National Cancer Institute award funding the course, so participation in SPT is free of charge (i.e., there are no registration fees). We will offer continuing education credits (for more information on continuing education credits, please see the course website).
NOTE: When this project was designed, the intention was for the E-Learning component to be followed by a Live Workshop in New York City. However, given the pandemic and associated public health guidelines, we're evaluating next steps and will be guided by trainee input and public health guidelines. We'll keep you updated!
If you are interested in enrolling in the training program, and beginning the E-Learning portion of the course, please:
a) Read and review our research information sheet (see PDF link below) to learn more about the study and about your role as a participant
b) If you agree to participate, please respond 'yes' to the question below
c) Fill out a brief, online application and eligibility survey. Once we review your responses and confirm your eligibility, we'll get back to you as soon as possible to get you started!
Note: You can enroll in the E-Learning portion of the course, even if you feel uncertain about attending a live workshop in the future. We want all of our trainees to feel safe.
If you have any questions about any of this information, please contact our team at
staff@sensitivepractice.com or 212-659-8937.
Once again, thank you so much for your interest. We look forward to receiving your online application.
Best regards,
Julie B. Schnur, Ph.D.
Associate Professor, SPT Director
